About Malaga

Malaga is a city located in Andalusia, Spain, on the Costa del Sol and close to the Strait of Gibraltar. The city is an important business center in tourism, technology services, construction and logistics.

Malaga was founded by the Phoenicians and it had been under the Carthaginian, Roman, and then Islamic domination. All these cultures that existed in this area enriched the history of the city. It is one of the world’s oldest cities. You can see the city’s oldest architectural remains in the Picasso Museum. Places to visit include the Roman theater of Malaga, the Alcazaba (a military fortification form the Islamic domination), the Castle of Gibralfaro, the Malaga Cathedral, Palacio de Villalon (with Carmen Thyssen Museum) and Palacio de los Condes de Buenavista where there is the Picasso Museum (Malaga is the birthplace of Pablo Picasso). Other interesting museums include Museo Interactivo de la Musica (MIMMA), Museum of Wine, Museum of Glass and Crystal, Museum of the Holy Week and CAC Malaga (modern art museum; one of the most visited in Andalusia).

A good period to visit Malaga is in March or April, during the Holy Week celebrations when processions are held all around the city. In August also the city is celebrating; Feria de Malaga is the largest cultural festival in the city – the best time to get to know the Spanish culture. Don’t forget to get a good suntan at the beaches or spend a day hiking the nearby mountains area. Therefore, Spain Malaga Hotel is glad to welcome you to Andalusia, Spain and wishes you a pleasant stay at our hotels.
